Doppelgänger

Doppel

Doppelgänger is a public communication sculpture, functioning as an acoustic portal between two remote locations. Passers-by are drawn into a mesmerizing tunnel structure, in which an interactive play of step sounds awaits.

Two telematically connected tunnels located remotely (Aarhus, DK; Buffalo, NY, USA ),each approx. 15m long. Contact microphones built into the floor record step sounds which are wirelessly transmitted to speakers installed in the companion tunnel. Two participants simultaneously enter each tunnel and walk “towards each other”.

Doppelgänger is an ongoing project and the master thesis of Vincent Krause, Nima Vakili and Jan Poneß.
