here is an experiment exploring the relationships between our physical spaces, our social interactions, and our technologies.

Conference attendees are given wearable badges at check in. Each badge is a personal device that senses its proximity to other badges. Over the course of the conference, it will create a data portrait of their time at MAB14.

This set of badges (and its supporting infrastructure) is representative of the kind of digital ecosystems already emerging in our buildings, our communities, and our cities. It is media architecture—the design of the contemporary means and mediums through which we relate to our built environments (and, consequently, to each other).
